People tend to use the the acronym G.O.A.T loosely when paying respect to whom they feel deserves this title but in Gambia the undisputed Greatest Of All Time is St Da Gambian Dream. His ability to constantly break his own records in the Gambian Rap scene is unmatched. I had the opportunity to have a conversation with this talented artist in Wax Media Studios during my visit in Gambia last July and I can honestly say he is the real deal. His unique rap style infusioning local language and native instrumentals with a touch of english slang gives the listener a strong sense of cultural pride in his music. The respect and admiration given to him is prevalent on every social media post I viewed and I can see he is the golden boy of the smiling coast.

While exploring options for my Destination Spotlight on Gambia I knew I had to include visual and performing arts. Im a huge fan of the arts so in Episode 4-7 I sat down to have a conversation with Mr. Sheikh Omar Jallow with Nation Centre for Arts and Culture we discussed what is the plan to grow the importance of the arts in Gambia. The NCAC covers all arts in Gambia including the film, fine arts, theater, festivals, literature, music, dance fashion and beauty. They also are in charge of the National Museum of Gambia .

Family is everything!

2020 will be a year of celebration in my world! My last daughter will graduate high school and I will become an empty nester! To celebrate this amazing accomplishment for the both of us I enlisted cruise specialist Sheila Lee of Serendipity Travel Services to create the perfect vacation. After long consideration my daughter and I chose cruising! Cruising was a great option and since we were celebrating with people from all age groups we knew it would be something for everyone on the cruise. So what cruise should we go on? Well I knew I wanted an upscale experience and since my daughter will be 18 I thought it was time for to experience a bit of luxury for the first time on a cruise vacation. So the search began!

After much research Sheila presented Celebrity Equinox as an option and I was sold instantly!

I then have a conversation with the general manager Musa Ceesay of Global Properties Africa about owning a home. Gambia is more than just a West African country it is the home of the kindest most welcoming people I have ever encountered on all my travels. In this 10 part series I showcase not just the Gambian tourism industry but I take you into their music, business, restaurant, real estate industries and more! Spring is almost here although today in Houston its barely above freezing dark and dreary! But we must look forward to the spring air and a new book to devour. I have chose just the perfect book Buried Beneath The Baobab Tree by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani. This book takes you to the northern part of Nigeria during the height of the Boko Haram crisis. Adaobi tells the story of a young girl with aspirations of a higher education taken from her home by Boko Haram and her will to survive. 



Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani is a Nigerian novelist, humorist, essayist and journalist. Her debut novel, I Do Not Come to You By Chance, won the 2010 Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Book, a Betty Trask First Book award, and named by Washington Post as one of the Best Books of 2009.
